Honor Bowl HS Football Preview 2015

Honor Bowl 2015: Oceanside High School

Premium prep football and support for our armed forces will be in full force this weekend in Oceanside at the 2015 Honor Bowl. The opening contest in the Honor Bowl Friday night features the Alemany Warriors and the Colony Titans.

Alemany comes into the contest fresh off a dominating 61-7 home victory over Garfield from the City Section. Led by super sophomore quarterback Brevin White, the Warriors are poised to put up big numbers offensively this season. On defense, Alemany is loaded with talent as well.

Colony defeated West Covina 28-21 in their opener. The defending CIF Central Division champs are poised to repeat this season and come into this matchup ranked first in the Central Div.

The nightcap on Friday will showcase the lone out of state representative at this year's Honor Bowl. The Eastside Catholic Crusaders have made the trip from Washington state to take on the host Oceanside Pirates and their raucous home crowd. Oceanside is coming off a 28-10 victory over San Marcos and will be ready to take on the top ranked squad from the Northwest.

The first game on the slate Saturday is a rematch of a great battle last season as the Oaks Christian Lions take on the Cathedral Catholic Dons. Oaks Christian enters the contest 1-0 after a dramatic comeback victory over Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks last week. Cathedral Catholic looks to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Santa Margarita in the opener.

The main event of the Honor Bowl is the highly anticipated showdown between the Corona Centennial Huskies and the Gardena Serra Cavaliers. Both teams are loaded with D1Bound talent on both sides of the ball.

The absence of Serra quarterback Khalil Tate due to suspension opens the door for Jalani Eason to step up for the Cavaliers. Centennial's high octane offense featuring Anthony Catalano, Javon McKinley, JJ Taylor and Sammonte Bonner will be difficult to contain.

On defense, Centennial is stacked, featuring ballers like Chacho Ulloa and Camryn Bynum in the secondary.

The 2015 Honor Bowl promises to be a special event filled with good football and recognition for the brave men and women in our military. CLA is honored to be a sponsor and looks forward to a great weekend of action.
