7v7 Tourney Featuring Loyola, Salesian, Narbonne and Cathedral

Loyola (CA) Hosts 7v7 Event

Four talented local high schools participated in a 7v7 passing tournament that featured several D1 bound student athletes at Loyola Wednesday afternoon. Many college coaches from around the country were in attendance to observe the action and evaluate the talent.

The host Loyola Cubs were joined by the Salesian Mustangs, Narbonne Gauchos and Cathedral Phantoms.

CLA was on hand to capture the action. Quarterbacking the Salesian squad was Blaise Booth, who looked sharp, making quick decisions and spreading the ball around to his cast of playmakers that includes Jeremy Kelly, Marquis Ware and Jamardre Cobb.

On one play, Booth linked up with Jeremy Kelly on a deep touchdown down the right sideline. The play displayed Kelly's all-around ability, from his quick burst off the line, separation down the field and confident catch for the score. Booth and Kelly connected several more times on the afternoon. Many coaches in attendance were clearly impressed with Jeremy's performance. Defensive stalwarts Ware and Cobb showed their soft hands and offensive skills on several plays as well.

For Narbonne, the event offered Long Beach Poly transfer Eban Jackson an opportunity to develop some chemistry with his new offensive weapons. Jackson fired the ball around, displaying good arm strength and decision making. The Gauchos lost a lot of talent to graduation but appear to be in good hands with Jackson at the helm this season.

Cathedral quarterback M.C. Poe was slinging the rock all over the field and has developed nicely since we last saw him at Steve Clarkson's Field Generals QB Camp awhile back. Poe has grown a few inches and appears poised for a breakout season this year.

Judging by the talent on display, all four schools should have strong teams this fall in what promises to be an exciting high school football season.
