Jordan Lasley's Stock Quickly Rising: Serra 2014 Wideout

UCLA 2014 WR Commit Gets USC Offer

At this point last season, 2014 WR Jordan Lasley was patiently waiting on his phone to ring. These days, Lasley's phone rings off the hook.

Just after landing at Long Beach Airport this evening on a return flight from a Utah official visit, Serra wide receiver Jordan Lasley answered a phone call from USC Trojans coach Tee Martin. SC officially offered Lasley tonight and presented the UCLA commit with a few things to think about.

"I had just landed and they (USC) offered me," Jordan Lasley told CLA tonight.

Jordan Lasley: Highlights vs Oceanside

Earlier in the year at the USC Rising Stars Camp, Lasley anticipated a USC offer in the works but Head Coach Lane Kiffin needed to see a bit more.

"Coach Tee (Martin) said that he wanted to offer me back in June went I went to their camp, but Kiffin said he wanted to see what I do in pads first," said Lasley.

Lasley is definitely excited about the SC offer, but he remains committed to the Bruins.

"I'm not even sure what to think right now. Somebody told me that UCLA got another WR commit today. I'm still solid with UCLA, but I'm still going to take my trips. I need to call Yarbs (Eric Yarber, UCLA WR Coach) and see what's going on," said Lasley.

Jordan Lasley: 7v7 Highlight Mix

With all the hoopla surrounding the SC offer, Lasley remains focused on this week's monumental match up with Chaminade Prep.

"I need to talk to all these coaches and still keep my focus on this game on Friday," Lasley says.

At 6'2" 175 with elite game and offers on deck, Jordan Lasley has a lot to think about, especially when you consider the Bruins current recruiting situation at the wide receiver position.

In addition to Lasley, UCLA has 5 wide receiver commits in the class of 2014, including: Barry Ware (CA), Alex Van Dyke (CA), Austin Roberts (IL) and Dionte Sykes (AZ). Only time will tell whether or not each recruit remains committed, but it's doubtful that UCLA hangs on to all five verbal commits.

The recruiting aspect is all part of the process and Jordan plans to take things in stride.

"I haven't set up any other officials. Indiana wants to give me an official after the season. Oklahoma watched me play and said they liked what they saw," he said.

Another school that piques Lasley's interest is Notre Dame. The senior wideout doesn't hold an offer but says that the Fighting Irish have had his attention for a long time.

"I like their coaching. It seems like they're always playing in the big game. With Notre Dame playing on TV, everybody's watching. I've always wanted to get an offer from Notre Dame and take an official," Lasley said.

Lasley attended a historic game for the Utes this weekend, as Utah knocked off the nation's No. 5 ranked Stanford Cardinal football team.

Utah was Lasley's first Pac-12 official offer and Ute Nation has done a great job recruiting the senior, even though he's firmly committed to UCLA. The Utes are also graduating two senior wideouts and the possibility for early playing time gives Utah somewhat of an advantage.
