In a classic rematch of Foothill League foes, the Hart Indians defeated the Valencia Vikings 28-21 to capture the CIFSS Northern Division crown Friday night in front of a raucous capacity crowd.
With the game deadlocked 21-21 in the fourth quarter, Hart junior gun-slinger Brady White linked up with senior Wes Fitzpatrick on a screen pass that went 53 yards to the house for the go-ahead touchdown. JSerra Catholic senior Dante Pettis is one of the most dynamic athletes we've watched this high school football season. Pettis is the cousin of former Boise State Broncos WR Austin and is the son of current Texas Rangers coach and former MLB Gold Glove winner Gary.
To say athleticism is in Pettis' blood would be an understatement.
Boise State became Dante's fifth official scholarship offer today and the Broncos are undoubtedly in his top list of schools.
Valencia Vikings senior playmaker Nick Jones landed his first scholarship offer from Chadron State recently. The Division II program produced NFL running back Danny Woodhead and is located in Nebraska.
Jones has established himself as one of the most productive receivers in Southern California this season, hauling in 46 catches for 1,126 yards and 15 touchdowns. Jones has a knack for making plays in big games.
Class of 2015 Freedom offensive lineman Dominic Fredrickson has landed a scholarship offer from the UCLA Bruins. The 6'3 300 bruiser paved the way for superstar running back and Army All-American Joe Mixon to run wild this season for the Falcons. Fredrickson imposes his will on the opponent and plays with a mean streak.
CLA caught up with Dominic to get his thoughts on receiving an offer from a Pac-12 power like UCLA.
The St. Bonaventure Seraphs of Ventura rolled into Sherman Oaks and defeated the Notre Dame Golden Knights 35-21 to advance to the Pac-5 quarterfinals Friday night.
The Seraphs jumped out to an early lead on a 30-yard touchdown strike from junior quarterback Ricky Town to senior playmaker Bryce Dixon. The St. Bonnie defense, led by the stellar play of seniors Davonte Nunnery and Zachary Hamrick, bottled up the Notre Dame offense in the first quarter.
Class of 2017 Glenwood Springs (CO) dual-threat quarterback Dante Sparaco has been balling out for the Demons this season. The 6'3 215 gun-slinger dominated the JV competition, amassing over 2,000 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns in six games.
Since making the jump to Varsity, Sparaco has excelled on the defensive side of the ball, racking up 75 total tackles (40 solo) and seven sacks, which ranks among the best in Colorado. Sparaco's athletic ability has been utilized on offense, as the quarterback is averaging 9 yards per carry with four rushing touchdowns in four games.
