After a tight first quarter Cathedral stormed out to a 21-0 lead in the 2nd quarter behind quarterback Andrew Tovar. Cathedral WRs Renard Bell and Jamire Calvin both had excellent runs after making a catch for touchdowns.

Crenshaw defeated Oxnard 26-20 in a hard fought contest at Crenshaw high. Crenshaw dominated the visiting Yellowjackets from Oxnard. Cougars running back Aundre Carter was on fire in the first half moving the chains and scoring a brilliant touchdown run. Crenshaw's QB Derrick Darden was also in fine form throwing for a touchdown and scrambling for another.
Glendora took on Kaiser at home and was led by senior QB Matt Fink who is currently committed to USC. Kaiser had an incredible performance on the ground by senior RB Joshua Johnson rushed for 272 yards on 23 carries.
Fink threw a pair of touchdown passes and also scored on a nice touchdown run displaying his athleticism. With his team trailing and the game on the line, Fink lined up at wide receiver and went up for an amazing catch that helped put Glendora in position to win the game 29-24.
The Gardena Serra Cavaliers defeated the Loyola Cubs 35-17 in a Mission League battle Friday night.
Led by the stellar play of quarterback Khalil Tate, Serra jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter. The Serra defense forced two interceptions, including Tyler Hall's 45 yard return for a touchdown. The Cavaliers led Loyola 20-0 before the Cubs could settle into the game.
The Arizona commit finished the contest with 166 rushing yards and 3 total touchdowns for the Cavaliers.
The Santa Margarita Eagles defeated the Dorsey Dons 33-13 in a hard hitting battle between intersectional foes. Both teams came into the game undefeated.
Santa Margarita jumped out to the early 6-0 lead. The Eagles offense was led by a balanced attack featuring Stanford commit quarterback KJ Costello and running back Trey Green.
Both teams defenses were stifling in the first half with the first quarter finishing 0-0. Neither team could do much on offense due to solid defensive performances from both teams.
Harried by Westlake's swarming defense all game, Santa Margarita quarterback KJ Costello did well to cap the first half with an excellent 25-yard run to put Santa Margarita up 7-0 at the half.
The Loyola Cubs rolled to a 52-22 road victory over the Salesian Mustangs Thursday night. Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the first quarter.
Loyola led 28-14 heading into the second quarter. The Cubs seized control of the game from there and added two more touchdowns to take a 42-14 advantage into the locker room.
Salesian came out fighting in the second half but were unable to claw back into the game. With the victory, Loyola improves to 3-0 and appears poised for a run at the Mission league crown.
The Gardena Serra Cavaliers defeated the Lakewood Lancers 41-15 in the season opener. With a highly anticipated matchup with Corona Centennial looming next week at the Honor Bowl, the Cavaliers took care of business against Lakewood. Serra held a 28-0 advantage at the half.
Mater Dei held on to win 24-21 after an early battle turned into a game of turnovers. Several players stood out for Mater Dei including: RB Brandon LaMarcher (3 TD), senior WR Andre Collins, junior QB Matthew McDonald, offensive linemen Frank Martin (USC commit) and newcomer Tommy Brown (2018, 6'7 315). Junior DL Chris Green was a force.
