Division I Football Workout: CLA Recruiting Analysis

Workout Session Features Best in West

CLA was on hand yesterday morning at Bishop Mora Salesian High School (Calif.) for a workout session that featured some of the top recruits in the nation, along with several rising recruits from the West coast.

2014 U.S. Army All-American nominees Marquis Ware, Jamardre Cobb, and Rodney Carr were on hand from Salesian. In addition, 2015 DB Kyavha Tezino showcased his skills in front of the likes of UCLA, Washington, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and several other top Division I football programs. Tezino currently holds seven official offers from schools such as Miami, UCLA, Washington State, Arizona and others.

A few 2014 wide receivers that showed great upside were St. John Bosco's Shay Fields and Chino Hills' Donovan Walker.

Shay Fields holds a few offers from SDSU, San Jose State, Nevada, Idaho and Hawaii, and he'll soon have several Pac-12 schools knocking. Fields runs solid routes, is able to get in and out of his breaks quickly, and moves well in space.

Donovan Walker doesn't have any official offers at the moment, but expect that to change in the near future. Walker has excellent hands and is able to set defensive backs up on both intermediate and deep routes. Walker performed well on the 7v7 travel circuit this spring and he's someone to keep an eye on.

2015 WR Jeremy Kelly is the younger brother of UW signee Jermaine Kelly Jr. and he's someone I feel will have schools lining up very shortly. Kelly is a hard-worker and has gotten much more polished since the 2012 season. The younger Kelly has also grown a few inches and is a solid 6'2 with a long frame and should continue to grow. Jermaine Kelly Jr. said that doctors project Jeremy to be about 6'4, and if that holds true he will be dangerous threat in the passing game.

Bukhari Madyun is a sleeper DB from Crenshaw and if he plays well he'll get some solid looks. Keep an eye out for 2014 WR Michael Sewell (Palmdale). Sewell catches the ball with his hands and adjusts well to the ball in the air.
